Start with your county committee. File to run for office as a Libertarian committee person. Even if you lose, we win. The goal is to exceed the previous record of 47 counties, and maintain our position as the largest alternative party. Filing dates are February 23 through March 30.

While you’re at it, run for a county office.

  • Presiding County Commissioners
  • County Clerk
  • Clerk of the Circuit Court
  • Recorder of Deeds
  • County Treasurer (3rd and 4th Class Counties only)
  • Prosecuting Attorney
  • County Auditor (1st class without a charter form of government; 2nd class counties)
  • Collector of Revenue

Whatever you’re going to file for, contact your county clerk or board of election commissioners’ office before you leave home. Tell them when and why you’re coming. Ask them what you need to bring.

We’ve had people turned away at their county clerk’s office in the past. I spoke to the elections division at the Secretary of State’s office. Libertarians are entitled to run in every county. Contact them if you have a problem. The number is (800) NOW VOTE. Find your county clerk’s phone number at their website. http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/countyclerks.asp.
