Missouri Libertarian Senate Candidate Polling 6%

October 7, 2006

Frank Gilmour, Libertarian candidate for US Senate in Missouri, is polling 6% in a recent Reuters/Zogby poll:  US Senator Jim Talent (R) - 43%, State Auditor Claire McCaskill (D) - 39%, Frank Gilmour (Libertarian) - 6%. http://www.politics1.com/blog-1006.htm#1006

This represents significant growth in support for Gilmour's campaign, and puts him in a strong position in the race.  In light of these polling results, it is even more egregious that he is being excluded from upcoming televised debates.  Unfortunately, the Reuters news story about the poll does not report Gilmour's numbers http://elections.us.reuters.com/top/news/usnN04391119.html.

Here is a sampling of blog comments on Politics1, the website that is reporting the full results of the poll:
... I seriously doubt that the Libertarian will take 6% of the vote in the end.

It's encouraging to see so many Libertarians polling so well this year: Gilmour, Smither, Badnarik...
