Mike Bozarth files for St. Joseph City Council
Mike Bozarth filed for the 3rd District position on the St. Joseph City Council,
a non-partisan position. He filed 102 signatures, about 25% more than the
required 75 to have his name placed on the ballot. He will be opposing incumbent
Charles Jones and one other candidate in the March, 2006 City Primary.
In 2002 Mike recieved 5,186 votes (22%) for Buchanan County Collector as a
Libertarian against a term-limited State Senator. In 1988 Mike was one of
the first two Libertarians elected to office in Missouri when he won 58% of the
vote to defeat the incumbent Councilman. Mike lost re-election in 1990 by three
votes.
In 1978 Mike was appointed a Deputy Buchanan County Collector by Democrat
A.J. Bielby, Jr. and in 1979 he was appointed to the St. Joseph Citizens
Advisory Commission by Republican Mayor Gordon Wiser.
Mike has served as an elected Libertarian Committeeman from 1990-1993 in DeKalb
County and from 1993 to the present in Buchanan County, Mo.
