Mike lost re-election in 1990 by three votes.

In 1978 Mike was appointed a Deputy Buchanan County Collector by Democrat A.J. Bielby, Jr. and in 1979 he was appointed to the St. Joseph Citizens Advisory Commission by Republican Mayor Gordon Wiser.

Mike has served as an elected Libertarian Committeeman from 1990-1993 in DeKalb County and from 1993 to the present in Buchanan County, Mo.
