Liberal Media's Failed Attempts To Exploit Tragedy

You knew that it was coming. As soon as we found out there was some “whack job” sniper running around the calls for greater gun control would surface again. The media soon found a new buzz word, (ballistic fingerprint) and it wasn’t long before that buzz word was all over the morning shows and the talk shows.

I was listening to the “Mitch Albom” show this weekend and it was all he could talk about. He went into a tirade about how this ballistic fingerprint could have prevented all of this tragedy. A pro- gun rights guest attempted to explain to Albom that the ballistic fingerprint in no way could have prevented this tragedy because a gun barrel could be changed in five minutes making the finger print absolutely useless in tracking down the killer. In true Liberal style, as soon as the man began to make his point Albom interrupted saying, that the guest was all over the place and asking him to stick to the subject. It’s the Liberal way, when someone who disagrees with your point of view begins to effectively communicate that point of view; it’s time to shut them down.

Talk show hosts and morning TV. News programs, with the help of gun control advocates have used this latest tragedy to try and persuade the public that stricter gun control laws are needed. They are not only trying to persuade the public they actually imply that America wants stricter gun control. O.K. technically they are not lying. According to a new Gallup poll. The percentage of Americans who want stricter gun control is 51 %. The fact that the Liberal media is not out right lying about this doesn’t mean that they are not withholding information. In other words the media “cuts and pastes” information to make the news stories lean toward their viewpoint.

Take for instance the fact that in October 2002, 51% of Americans are in favor of more laws governing the control and sale of firearms. That is indeed a true statement. But here is what the media is not telling you. The number of Americans in favor of an increase of government control of firearms in 2002, after the sniper attacks, does not differ from the number Americans who were in favor of more gun control in October 2001, before the sniper attacks, 51%.

Here are some more interesting facts that the media is not telling you. Statistics have proven that over the past several years, Americans are putting less faith in the police. The recent October Gallup poll revealed that 58 % of Americans have faith in the police. This number has fallen since last year 66% and even further from the 70% in 1999 that believed the police could adequately protect them.

I listen to the Sean Hannity show quite often. Sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I don’t but he made a very good point the other day. He said that (I’m paraphrasing here) if someone violent is breaking into your home and you call the police, chances are it is going to be a homicide case by the time the police arrive. That was a good and valid point. However if an individual has a gun to protect himself or herself, there is a good chance the perpetrator can be stopped.

The Liberal media does not care about you or your family. Liberals are idealists. They truly believe in their little bleeding hearts that if they could only get guns off the streets that the violence will stop. Even if the statistics prove otherwise.
