We had a great convention and if you’re like me the excitement still hasn’t worn off. It’s invigorating to see a room full of people who are dedicated to the cause of Liberty and we got a new MOLP Vice Chair, John Williams. Congratulations John! It’s very promising to know that there will always be people, in all generations, fighting to keep and restore the precious liberties that we recognize as mankind’s birthright.

This issue we have articles on Dr. Mary Ruwart’s exciting keynote speech at the MOLP 2002 Convention, Champions of Freedom Award winners, Harry Browne’s appearance at Truman State University. There are a couple of pages of photos from the state convention.

We have commentary from the National LP on Dionne Warwick’s recent marijuana arrest and how the drug war erodes our protection from terrorists. In more commentary, Chip Taylor asks "Whose votes are these?" and Mike Ferguson talks about the "BallPork" corporate welfare scheme, before it’s defeat, and then follows it up with a piece that was published in the Belton Star-Herald after it’s defeat. We also have an interesting article on the Libertarian senate primary between Tamera Millay and Edward Manley.

I have a rant that I sent to the KC Star about an article that they ran on child molesters getting taxicab licenses unfortunately they didn’t print it, but I hope you will consider it worth while. And I’ve created a new cartoon for your enjoyment.

Again, we have the Letters to the Editor section, or maybe I should retitle it "Bill and Kev’s Awesome Adventures." I know there are other people out there who are just dying, or at least have a slight urge to write us, so please do.

As I am beginning to get a bit more familiar with the workings of this fine newsletter, I’m hoping you will see improvements in it’s layout, information and entertainment value. This is a newsletter devoted to the good fight of Liberty. And even though our cause is to help all people in the struggle for individual sovereignty, by no means is it an individual effort. I wish to thank all those who have contributed to this issue of Show Me Freedom, it just wouldn’t be the same without you. So let’s imagine…

Imagine when enough of the people realize the precious gift of freedom that is inherent in being human and realize that to preserve our freedoms that individual sovereignty must be standard by which freedom is measured. Anything that benefits individual sovereignty will then be recognized as good and anything that, no matter how well-meaning, doesn’t will be recognized as bad.

That is currently happening all around us because we are talking to people and we are introducing them to the ideas of Liberty. I would like to see the cause reach critical mass before I die, but that is up to you and me. From what I’ve seen we have great potential and if the caliber of people in our midst are any indication of Freedom’s future there is plenty of reason to be optimistic.
