Volunteers Spark LP Activity

Gary Stocker, Lindsey Schroeder, Kevin Tull, and Paul Kientzy are just a few of the people who have stepped up to help promote Liberty through their activism in the Libertarian Party.

As noted elsewhere, Gary Stocker and Lindsey Schroeder are the campus coordinators building student organizations at various campuses across the state. One notable success is the emerging group at Washington University in St. Louis.

Kevin Tull has stepped up to become newsletter editor, replace Jeanne Bojarski. Kevin will layout the newsletter using material provided from a variety of writers. Paul Kientzy is managing the distribution list for e-Show-Me-Freedom, the electronic version of the state’s newsletter.

The need for their involvement has been particularly acute with the departure of at least four major activists in the Mo Libertarian Party, notably Jeanne Bojarski, Tom Knapp and Steve and Lisa Shaper. The activists have curtailed their involvement for a variety of factors including medical, job and relocation.

Others notables who have helped fill the void include Greg and Jan Sloan, Glen and Catherine Blackmon and TL and Suzi Wahl.

  • Gary Stocker and Justin Kempf are campus coordinators striving to build organizations across the state at colleges.
  • Kevin Tull, a graphics artist by trade, laid out the January and April newsletters, and now serves on the Executive Committee representing District 5.
  • Paul Kientzy, managing editor of Poli-Sigh.com, has assembled a database of e‑SMF subscribers.
  • Greg and Jan Sloan are the MoLP convention treasurers, in addition to being treasurer and quartermaster for St. Charles County.
  • Glen and Catherine Blackmon are the convention auction organizers, and have been mailing out Exec Committee meeting minutes and announcements to county chairs and state committee members since October.
  • TL and Suzi Wahl of the Systematic Volunteer Group have assumed newsletter production duties offering their services to the Party at a huge discount.

It is clear that in a organization such as the Libertarian Party, volunteer activism is vital. Moreover, changing personal circumstances cause activists to drift in and out of service. Without the commitment and dedication of volunteers such as those listed above, the wheels of the state party may have come off with communication, organization and activity grinding to a halt.

Luckily, none of this has happened, and we have volunteers such as these to thank for it.
