National LP Convention Set for Indianapolis

The Libertarian Party will hold its 2002 National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, July 3-7, 2002 at the Downtown Marriott and Indianapolis Convention Center. The theme “Champions of Liberty” ties into the many winners of the Indianapolis 500 with a patriotic flair.

Missouri will have 24 convention delegates out of 1449, based on Mo LP members and votes for Harry Browne in 2000.

Speakers include

• Neal Boortz, author of The Terrible Truth about Liberals and The Commencement speech You Need to Hear, will be the banquet speaker. Neal is a popular Libertarian talk show host in Atlanta.
• Carla Howell, Massachusetts US Senate candidate
• Ed Thompson, Wisconsis gubernatorial candidate
• Don Gorman, former LP legislator and presidential candidate
• Bill Masters, Libertarian Sheriff from Colorado
• Fred Collins, Libertarian City Council incumbent of Michigan

Delegates to the 2002 National Convention will elect national party officers, debate changes to the party platform, and revise party bylaws. They will also have an opportunity to attend various workshops, panels, luncheons and entertainment events.
