Libertarians on Verge of Record-Setting Election Year

The year 2002 has produced a solid slate of Libertarian candidates for public office. With two days to go for filing, the Party expects to field 48 candidates statewide, matching the record set in 1998. “With another last minute filing or two that usually happens, this year may be our best” said Jim Higgins who spearheaded the filings.

For US Senate, Tamara Millay, Libertarian Us Senate Candidate in 1998, faces Edward J. Manley, a non-libertarian and convicted felon from Hillsboro.

Arnold Trembly returns as a candidate for statewide office as the Libertarian Party candidate for Missouri Auditor. In 2000, Arnold ran for MO Treasurer.

In the nine US Congressional races, the Libertarian Party has:

  • Dist 1, Jim Higgins, MOLP Press Secretary and returning congressional candidate

  • Gary Stocker seeks a seat on the St. Louis County Council
  • Mike Bozarth is running for Buchanan County Collector
